made with heavily speckled clay and glazed in a shiny white glaze.
11cm tall x 7.5cm wide, holds 350mls.
to create this clay and glaze effect I have to do a special kind of firing - a reduction firing. reduction firing is firing in an oxygen deprived atmosphere, which can cause very cool clay and glaze transformations that you wouldn’t usually get, in this case, the iron speckles in the clay body really release and ‘bloom’. I can’t reduction fire and get these results in my electric kiln so these are extra special, having been fired in my Grandma’s old gas kiln.
